School readiness - is my child ready for school?
Little Beginnings Education Kindergarten & pre-school program is designed to prepare children for the transition to the more structured and independent environment of attending school. School readiness is not all about academics though, we recognise that children learn best through play, and that more important than skill development is their development of social and emotional wellbeing.
Through the play-based curriculum children are developing many skills which will be beneficial to them at school, such as developing a sense of belonging, social skills necessary for group participation, responding to and coping with change and developing literacy and numeracy skills.
Our curriculum is displayed in the room and updated daily, we encourage all families to read and give feedback about the activities, this feedback is incorporated into the curriculum and assists the educators tailer the learning experiences to each child’s specific needs and strengths.

EXCELLENT Based on 17 reviews Posted on Tara BellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been with Little Beginnings for almost 7 years now, with both of my children. We have watched it becomes such a wonderful warm place once it was taken over by Leanne and Viv. It was so nice to know all the staff so well when it came time for my youngest to start attending. The team have flourished, especially with Vivian, then Hema becoming part of the management/Director team. Fantastic communication, they will happily talk with you anytime that you need. They really do love our kids and care for them so well. My son has a food allergy too, and they are very mindful and careful about it. All the amazing workers in Baby/Toddler room work so well with my daughter who has severe speech delay, she loves them! Kacie has been wonderful in supporting my son with school drops offs and Vac care. I look forward to more years ahead, with my youngest moving up to be with Patsy in Kindy room soon, who was so wonderful with my son too. All staff are friendly, welcoming and so helpful. Cannot recommend this daycare enough.Posted on jo ManningTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. He has always been happy to go …the staff are fantastic , they are always welcoming to the children and families. The rooms in the centre are full of beautiful toys and equipment to engage active and enquiring minds. The staff are well trained and you can just tell by the looks on their faces that they just love those children …..The outdoor play area is also well equiped with good quality static and moveable equipment, they have fort style climbing area with a slide , lots of bikes and balancing frames and mats. Both our children attend, my daughter in the babies room and my son in kindy. My son started at 10 months old in babies and the care they have shown is above and beyond a ‘just a job’. These ladies clearly love what they do! And the communication and updates are spot on. The team at Little Beginnings are such an asset to Forrestfield! We've been at this daycare for over 6 years, and i cannot speak highly enough of the care and dedication shown by every single educator here. What stands out most is how genuinely warm and friendly they are as soon as you enter the door. The owners and educators have created a real family atmosphere. In the years i have been here they have expanded the centre and upgraded the outdoor play equipment...that i can never get my boy to leave at pick up as he is having so much fun but they are constantly upgrading equipment/furniture and toys. My children have thrived here and i feel incredibly fortunate to have found such a nurturing and professional enviroment for my kids. I would recommend this daycare to any family without hesitation.Posted on DelaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We’ve been very happy with this day care centre. My daughter started when she was 1 in the baby room. the staff have always been so caring and attentive. Drop offs are much easier knowing she’s greeted with cuddles and kindness. Everyone is friendly and I’m genuinely thankful for the work they do. She’s thriving, loves seeing her friends, and we really enjoy the daily updates on the app showing the different activities they do. They also have a branch in Beckenham, which my daughter attended first while we were waiting for a spot at this centre. Both facilities have been wonderfulPosted on Kaylene GallowayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Amazing Daycare! I couldn’t be happier with the care my two boys receive at this daycare. One is in the Babies Room and the other is in the Kindy Room, and both of them absolutely love it. The educators are so patient, caring, and genuinely invested in the kids’ wellbeing. The Babies Room team treat my little one like their own, always keeping me updated and making sure he feels safe, loved, and comfortable. My older boy in the Kindy Room has learned so much—his confidence, social skills, and independence have all grown so much since starting here. The communication is excellent, the environment is always clean and welcoming, and the staff go above and beyond every day. I feel so grateful knowing my boys are in such good hands. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a supportive, trustworthy, and nurturing childcare service.

Kindergarten pre-school Program Frequently Asked Questions
Why are school readiness skills important?
The development of school readiness skills allows schoolteachers to expand and further develop a child’s skills in the specific areas of social interaction, play, language, emotional development, physical skills, literacy and fine motor skills. Without these basic skills already established upon entry to school, children can very quickly find themselves playing ‘catch up’ compared to their peers that are advancing more quickly. children that begin school with the building blocks or foundation skills in place advance quickly as opposed to those that start school only to then begin the slow process of developing school readiness.
What are group sizes like in the kindy program?
As a small family run service, we take pride in our commitment to small group numbers.
Smaller group sizes allow for more individualized attention, which is important for the developmental needs of kindergarten-aged children. It enables educators to better support each child’s learning and social-emotional development. A smaller group size can contribute to a more effective learning environment, allowing for organised and engaging activities that cater to the needs of each child. Children feel more comfortable expressing themselves and participating in group activities when in a smaller setting.
Can I come for play dates prior to enrolment start date?
We encourage play dates prior to your enrolment start date, these will allow your child to explore the new environment with you present, It is a wonderful way to help your child transition smoothly.
Every child is unique, and their reactions to new experiences can vary. Some children may thrive with playdates and social interactions, while others may need more time to adjust. Our educators will be attentive to your child’s cues and comfort level, and will always prioritize positive and enjoyable interactions.
