Little Beginnings Education childcare curriculum - Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework

Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Australia’s national approach to early childhood education. The framework helps educators create learning experiences that support children’s development, wellbeing, and sense of belonging during the most important early years of life.

Following the Early Years Learning Framework means every child’s learning journey is thoughtfully planned and responsive to their individual needs, abilities, and interests. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, our educators observe how each child explores the world around them and build activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The program continues to evolve as children grow, learn, and develop new skills.

Belonging

Learning Through Relationships & Community

A key principle of the Early Years Learning Framework is recognising that children learn best when their family, culture, and community are part of the learning environment. We work closely with parents and families to understand each child’s background, knowledge, and interests. These connections help shape meaningful learning experiences that feel familiar, engaging, and relevant to the child.

By building strong partnerships with families, we create a supportive environment where children build the sense of belonging, feel secure and confident to explore, ask questions, and express their ideas.

Being

Encouraging Children to Be Themselves and Lead Their Learning

Childhood is a time to be, to seek and make meaning of the world.  Being recognises the significance of the here and now in children’s lives. It is about the present and them knowing themselves, building and maintaining relationships with others, engaging with life’s joys and complexities, and meeting challenges in everyday life. The early childhood years are not solely preparation for the future but also about the present.

Throughout the day, children are given opportunities to make choices about activities, explore their interests, and take part in everyday routines, guided by the Early Years Learning Framework.

Educators guide learning through conversation, play, and shared experiences. By listening to children’s ideas, questions, and opinions, we create learning opportunities that feel natural and exciting. In this way, children become partners in the learning process rather than simply following instructions.

Becoming

Building Independence & Confidence

Developing independence is another important part of the Early Years Learning Framework. Children are encouraged to take part in daily routines, practise self-help skills, and work together on projects that reflect their interests.

Whether it’s helping tidy up after playtime, participating in group activities, or exploring a topic they’re curious about, these experiences build confidence, resilience, and a sense of achievement. Over time, children begin to see themselves as capable learners who can explore, discover, and solve problems on their own.

Children’s identities, knowledge, understandings, capacities, skills and relationships change during childhood. They are shaped by many different events and circumstances. Becoming reflects this process of rapid and significant change that occurs in the early years as young children learn and grow. It emphasises learning to participate fully and actively in society.

Working together with families

The Early Years Learning Framework starts at home

Families play a vital role in the Early Years Learning Framework at Little Beginnings. We value the insights parents and caregivers share about their child’s personality, interests, and development. This collaboration helps us build a complete understanding of each child and ensures our programs support their growth in a meaningful and holistic way.

When educators and families work together, children benefit from a consistent, supportive environment that nurtures learning, wellbeing, and a lifelong love of discovery.
